Boris Palace Boutique Hotel & Winery

The sunset from the restaurant terrace was fantastic, and the location was a real highlight. There are lots of historic places and bars just a few steps away. We stayed one night, found the room clean, and were welcomed very warmly. I have nothing bad to say about the place or especially the hosts.

Don't even consider staying here. The man was super rude and treated me terribly. I couldn't believe how badly I was spoken to. The hotel has completely lost its hospitality.

You can walk to the main sights from this hotel, and the main pedestrian area is only a few minutes away. It sits right in the old town, which is a great location. The decor was lovely, the large bed was comfortable, and our suite had a little balcony. The bathroom was clean, the shower worked perfectly, and I appreciated the grab bar by the toilet. A few choices were odd: there was no kettle or way to make coffee, and just one tiny bin. Staff were present and attentive, though not especially friendly, which seemed normal in the Balkans.

We have never had a more unpleasant restaurant experience. An elderly bald waiter, apparently around 70, was rude and showed no willingness to forgive or accommodate us. We were made to pay for food we hadn't even eaten, and no receipt was given. I wonder if the local tax authorities would want to know about that. My husband and I have been culinary tourists for years and have eaten in many restaurants around the world, but we've never faced treatment this disgusting. The restaurant industry is supposed to give customers pleasure, and it represents the beautiful city of Plovdiv. What kind of tourism can there be with this attitude?
