The staff are superb, and the hotel is so clean you could eat off the floors. Its hilltop position gives it amazing rooftop views. Once the rooftop is refurbished, it’ll make a killer restaurant, and we’ll definitely go when it opens. One thing to keep in mind: the hill is cobbled. If you have accessibility issues, you’ll need to drive up or stay somewhere else.

The location is perfect, which is a shame given the state of the room. We stayed in room 403, and it was filthy: mould on the curtains and ceiling, hair all over the bathtub, and coffee cups that hadn’t even been washed after the previous guests. It was freezing inside in early January. I’m giving the one star only for the receptionists.

The balcony is spacious and has wide open views. The place sits on a slight incline, just so you know. Staff were highly capable and gave clear answers whenever I asked something. The location is excellent, and I wholeheartedly recommend staying here.

The accommodation itself was great, but when I arrived for my vacation, I was told, “The restaurant is broken.” Okay, easy enough to work around. Then they said, “The indoor parking is broken too.” Excuse me, what? Parking in Plovdiv is tough, especially in the old center, so keep that in mind.

The view and service were amazing, and the receptionist was very kind. The cleaners couldn’t understand English, unfortunately, but it wasn’t a problem. We paid 7.20 lev per kg to have our clothes washed. Everything was pretty good, and you’re close to everything.
