Hikers Hostel Plovdiv

There’s a big garden, and the atmosphere was great, with barbecue nights and good times. It’s a beautiful location and the host was amazing. I’ll definitely come back.

I stayed here twice in 2023, once in milder weather and once during the summer heat. The rooms got quite hot in summer, though it was still bearable. The hostel is in Plovdiv’s old town, a superb location and pretty much perfect for tourists. I liked the outdoor kitchen and the social area outside.

The rooms are packed with bunk beds, but the price is good. There’s a laid-back place to hang out with cooking facilities and a washing machine, and it’s easy to meet people there. The atmosphere is friendly. Ivan, the host, is probably the friendliest guy in Bulgaria. It’s nearly at the highest point of the old town, a great base for exploring Plovdiv.

I liked the atmosphere and the location, right in the middle of the old town. But it seemed a bit dirty, and the sheets didn’t smell fresh. There was nowhere in the dorm to put our bags, so people left their things all over the place. Breakfast was basic, nothing special. When we arrived, nobody was there, so we had to climb over the fence and wait for the owner. The toilets weren’t private and seemed to be divided by some kind of cardboard. I wouldn’t stay here again.
