Hotel Festa Pomorie Resort

The receptionist was polite and moved us to another room after we arrived around midnight and found a bug crawling on a mattress, along with larva exoskeletons in its corners. But the hygiene in the replacement room was horrendous: dust, mold, dirt, cobwebs and even general rubbish under one of the nightstands. Every night there was also an unidentified, disgusting smell in the air, something like urine. The staff were polite, but everything else was simply terrible. This shouldn’t be a four-star hotel. Maybe I could give it two stars on a good day.

The location is a big plus: the hotel is right by the sea, about 10 meters from the beach, and has two pools. Our half-board meals were good, with plenty of choices. On the beach, only the last row of sunbeds is free for hotel guests; the others cost 10 leva per sunbed and 10 leva per umbrella. We had a very pleasant stay at Festa Pomorie. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the hotel was very clean overall. Reception staff were extremely kind and helpful, always ready to assist. It was a very good experience, and I’d recommend the hotel.

We had a nice time otherwise, but the food was average and the restaurant workers could be friendlier. The pool and beach were nice, though the staff weren’t very welcoming. At one point an older man suddenly came over and shouted that we had to leave the pool. We paid a lot, so I think we should have been able to swim after 6 p.m. too.

The mattress had a hollow in the middle and was uneven, so it gave us no support and was really uncomfortable. We put some small pillows underneath to stop ourselves sliding down while we slept. The carpet was dirty, with a large stain in the middle. Our towels weren’t changed as they should have been, and the room wasn’t cleaned the day before we left. The hotel is right on the beach, and the location is excellent. Food and drinks were average. The staff weren’t very welcoming or smiley, especially for a four-star hotel. They need to learn to be more polite and greet customers with a smile.
