Saint George Hotel & Medical Spa

I’m still here and having a lovely time. The hotel has delivered what it promised, from the great views and comfortable beds to the tasty breakfast and very good spa and medical services. I’m especially grateful for the medical care and treatments. Thank you to the team for looking after me so well. I’m already feeling better. I’d happily share a positive review on as many platforms as possible, because good hotels deserve fair recognition. I really recommend it, and I have two more blissful nights to enjoy.

The front desk lady was helpful, and the service was good. Breakfast was okay, with a small selection. We loved the views from both our room and the sky bar, but the old air conditioning in our renovated room didn’t cool it enough.

The location is great, and the staff were really friendly. Check-in and checkout were quick. The breakfast was delicious, with lots of choices and new things added each day. The room was spacious too, but the bathroom was awful, with mold on the walls. I’ve never seen mold in a hotel, cheap or expensive. That’s a record, and a sad one for a spa hotel that isn’t cheap. We used the sauna on different days and it was really good, just small, maybe room for four people at most. A note for anyone using it: please learn what’s suitable to wear in a sauna. The high dry heat is meant to help you detox, and plastic clothing can heat up so you breathe it in. Plastic and slippery swimsuits aren’t suitable. There’s a towel for a reason. There’s no free parking. The expensive car park is right across from the hotel. I don’t understand why a place like this wouldn’t offer free parking. If you want to park for free, drive a few minutes toward where the locals live and you’ll find somewhere. I’m not sure how safe it is, so we chose the paid lot as a precaution.

The view was the only good part. Even though the rooms look renovated, there’s no real soundproofing. You hear every noise from other guests, especially in the hallway. There were glass stains on my nightstand, and nobody had cleaned them. The rest of the hotel feels very dated: the lobby bathrooms were freezing and had no toilet paper, and the furniture was cracked and flaking. The spa was just as disappointing. It had a tiny, cold pool with two jacuzzi spots, a sauna for two, and a small steam room with chipped tiles and mold. Instead of beds, there were exactly 10 chairs for all the guests. It all seemed old and dirty. Parking was also far too small for the hotel’s capacity, so you have to hunt for a space yourself, which isn’t easy by the seaside. The parking and spa can’t accommodate the number of hotel guests, and to me that’s outrageous. It leaves people fighting over every spot. Breakfast was mediocre at best, with no large mugs for tea, just small coffee cups. The scrambled eggs had bits of shell in them, the pastries tasted old and nasty, and there was no yogurt, plant-based milk, bacon or chocolate. They also skipped more appealing Bulgarian options like mekitsi, French toast or pancakes. It felt like the bare minimum. The fitness room was no better: the equipment left my hands black from rust, and it costs 5lv per hour. We were disappointed, our holiday was ruined, and it wasn’t worth the money. There are thousands of excellent spa hotels and villas to choose from, so I’d spend it somewhere else.
