For a budget stay, I’d say this is the best hotel in the city Centre. I spent five days here and really liked the view of the city fountain and the Statue of Liberty in the park. The rooms are basic but good, and the beds were somewhat comfortable. The service was the part I liked less. There’s no room service, and breakfast is buffet only, with no à la carte menu. That was convenient, but it meant I couldn’t order things like pancakes, which you can get at other hotels. The food, especially the cereals, was okay.

The buffet was good, and the rooms were okay, but service ranged from average to terrible. They charged me for parking even though my car wasn’t on the hotel premises. The front desk knew this but said they didn’t know how to refund me. The hallway rugs were stained. The hotel is central, but it’s beside a busy street and a gambling casino, with plenty of noise and bustle. Russe is a beaten-down city in Bulgaria, with a lot of decline since 1989. The hotel is hugely overpriced, though still one of perhaps three decent places to stay there.

Right by the pedestrian zone, and having parking is very convenient. The rooms aren’t fancy, but they looked clean and well maintained. Staff were really friendly and gave us tips for our time in Ruse. The food was okay too.

The central location was convenient, and the room was quiet. The decor felt dull and the rooms a little worn, though. What really upset me was the reception. I was in bed when someone suddenly came in and switched on the light. I travel for work about a quarter of the time and had never had that happen before. When I asked the receptionist, she said there must have been a mistake. There was no apology or offer to help after the scare, and her manner was rude. I think it may have been her mistake. A teenage boy, possibly her son, was sitting behind the desk too. This is supposed to be a four-star hotel, not someone's living room. I found the lack of customer care shocking, and someone with that attitude shouldn't be working reception. There was no manager that night or the following Saturday morning, which says a lot about how the hotel is managed. The receptionist may have been Petya (Dadamova?), but nobody had a name tag, so I couldn't tell for sure who I was speaking to.

We stayed here overnight because it was handy for crossing the Romanian border. The room was very large, but the bed wasn't comfortable and the pillows were flat. Breakfast helped make up for that, with a tasty, generous selection. The hotel is dated, but basic enough for a night.
