Germanea Hotel

The only real plus is the location, though in a small town that doesn't count for much. Don't assume you'll get a parking spot just because the room is offered with free parking. The pools aren't maintained, tiles keep falling and could injure someone, and the outdoor pool was dirty. We ended up with an intestinal infection. In the triple room, the third bed is a sofa and it's unclear whether it can be extended; there's only one chair. Both the room and restaurant cost too much for what's provided. The hotel is old, but that alone isn't the issue.

The restaurant was badly run from start to finish. The ice machine had broken, so our drinks came warm, and management refused when we asked them to buy ice from the shop next door. Our side order was wrong and the food was overcooked. Then, after the drinks were returned because they had no ice, the waitress was apparently expected to pay for them herself.

The pools, indoors and out, were hot and almost clean, though with so many people I can see that upkeep isn't easy. The room was clean and warm, and both the food and staff were very good. Please put more money into the place and take it to the next level. This place is awesome.

Dinner was very good: a set three-course meal with salad and a bottle of water to start, then a main and dessert. The room was warm overall, and there were lots of TV channels, including a Russian one showing the English Premier League. Staff reacted quickly when the bathrobe was missing and brought one after we reported it. When the water pump failed, they fixed it right away, although the room only warmed up at night. For the downsides, neither pool was clean, and the pump trouble left us without warm water in the pools and room heating for a day. There was no refrigerator or elevator. Breakfast was basic: sliced tomatoes, white and yellow cheese, a few kinds of sausage, bread, butter, jam and fried eggs. As someone who likes coffee, I didn't enjoy the machine's instant coffee. They had no water or juice included, though you could order other items from the menu for an extra charge.
