Berlin Golden Beach Hotel

The price-quality ratio was fair, and the quiet, relaxed atmosphere makes this more suited to families with children or older guests. Younger people may find few activities or things to do nearby. We had a decent stay overall, but there was often an unpleasant smell around the hotel. The staff were kind and willing to help, though almost no one spoke English, making it difficult to get information or ask questions. The rooms were clean but quite old and need renovation. There looked to be plenty of food variety at first, but only a few options were really good, so we often ended up eating the same things. The fruit was fresh and fine. Beer was very light, and there were only two or three cocktails to choose from.

The hotel has a beach bar and is right on the beach, which were the main pluses for me. There are four buildings belonging to the same hotel, so groups should take care when booking. It’s at the edge of the resort, and there’s no medic on site. Parking cost 100 euros for seven days. All-inclusive meals are split into two shifts, so you can’t eat whenever you want.

It was a nice, kid-friendly stay, and the animators were very good. The food had plenty of variety, but lacked flavor. About 90% of the sunbeds were reserved with towels from 7 in the morning and stayed that way until afternoon, even though they were only used for two or three hours. One hotel rule said beds couldn’t be reserved for more than an hour when the guest was away, but nobody enforced it and no one followed it. Families with younger children who got out of their rooms later ended up sitting on towels.

I paid for a sea-view room but was given one overlooking the back of the hotel. The bathroom smelled awful when I arrived, and the room cleaning was pretty poor for a four-star hotel. The restaurant takes up four entire buildings. Do they really think a restaurant can handle more than 400 people? A lot would need to change before this could be called a four-star hotel. The minibar was empty, even though reception said it was stocked. The people at reception didn’t know how to speak English. We understood each other like 2,000 years ago.
