Contessa Hotel

My stay wasn't a happy one. The room had a noisy fridge that kept cooling until I unplugged it, and the bathroom smelled like one of those dirty, cheap guest houses. The window view was depressing, the hotel didn't feel close to the city centre, and breakfast was very average. I also found the staff not especially pleasant. I'm surprised Booking rates it Fantastic.

We've returned for several years because this family run hotel feels like home. Everyone is welcoming, caring and helpful, and the food, cleanliness and comfort are all to a very high standard. New Year's Eve was the best function we've ever attended, well planned and such a fun night we'll never forget. Without a doubt, I'd recommend this hotel as a first choice. Well done, contessa.

It's centrally located, but the rooms are very dated and need an update. There was a kettle in the room, though no tea or coffee.

We stayed for a week as a group of eight. The rooms were clean but very colorful, and there weren't enough sockets. The receptionist wasn't very knowledgeable: she couldn't say whether the rooms had hairdryers, didn't know of a fast food place open at 10 pm, and couldn't suggest a restaurant for the next evening. At Contessa's restaurant, the food was pretty delicious and portions were a good size, but every meal had a hair in it, which was irritating. They also forgot the mekici we'd ordered two days ahead for breakfast. The male server was great, always cheerful, delicate and welcoming. The female server was the opposite, cold and unpleasant.
