We stayed in mid-October, outside the ski season, and were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant's wide menu. Our favorites were the flava bean and beef stew and Shopska salad, with Mountain Lake Bulgarian red wine. Breakfast was a traditional Bulgarian continental spread with a nice choice of cold meats and cheeses. The quiet, remote setting was picturesque, with crisp, cold autumn air, and we slept really well in the comfortable bed and pillows. Our spacious suite had a fireplace, living room, separate bedroom, and two balconies. The room was clean and lovely, though I didn't take any photos inside.

The setting is a little secluded, with incredible surrounding flora and a cozy atmosphere. The rooms and food were great, and the spa was small but modern, with nice amenities. We had an amazing weekend.

We picked the hotel hoping for a peaceful mountain break, but live music played right below our room until 10:30 pm and completely spoiled the quiet. The restaurant waiters were rude and unprofessional.

The spa was excellent: the pool was clean with plenty of warm, pleasant water, and there were good options for the steam bath and sauna. The staff were polite, attentive, and very proper. The location is ideal if you want peace, nature, and a starting point for mountain walks. The restaurant is worth a visit too, the food was superb. I'd gladly come back.

The website photos were misleading. We booked what looked like a three-bedroom apartment, but the layout was completely different and there was no fireplace. The hotel hadn't mentioned that it was three buildings away from the main hotel and wasn't actually part of it, more like an AirBnB property. That meant walking about 400 meters each way to the spa in the cold. On arrival, we found an electrical problem, something with the fusebox, and the apartment was extremely cold. When we complained, receptionist Yuliya said, “This kind of things happen”. It took two days out of our five to get the apartment properly warm enough that we could wear something other than a jacket.
