Apolonia Resort

There's a big difference between the HOTEL and the privately owned apartments at this resort. This review is about our stay at the HOTEL. For the second part of our trip we rented an apartment privately, and it was amazing. We were glad not to have to deal with the hotel staff anymore. The resort itself has fantastic facilities, with plenty of pools for the whole family. The setting is beautiful, with clear water and no overcrowding, plus beach bars and restaurants to suit different tastes. Everything is well maintained, and the cleaning team did a great job in our room. The Italian restaurant is worth a visit, and the pizzas at the other restaurant were excellent. There’s a well-stocked market on site, and the massages were incredible. I’d recommend booking at least one. Our hotel-provided apartment was in poor condition, even though they described it as their best one. Loose floorboards were a safety hazard, the room didn't match the photos because a table was missing, and the air conditioning in one bedroom didn't work during a heatwave. We were told someone would come to fix it, but nobody came. Maybe the technician hadn't been told, or was too busy. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told “No.” After I said I might leave a negative review, a staff member actually encouraged me to do it. The staff may be the biggest downside of an otherwise great resort.

I had a great stay at Apolonia Resort. The rooms were spacious, the location was ideal, and the customer service was really good. Manager Ivana went out of her way to be welcoming and kind. I needed to stay an extra night because of a personal situation, and she understood and helped arrange my stay and travel. The staff were understanding too when my U.S. credit card didn't go through straight away. The studio's small kitchen was enough for my meals, which mattered because I follow a special eating plan and needed a stove, fridge, pots and pans. I’m looking forward to visiting again!

The breakfast was poor, with very low-quality products, and the restaurant service was bad. In a luxury hotel in Bulgaria, a country known for its cows and good milk, serving guests ultra-refined Chinese milk makes no sense to me. The whole experience was bad. I do not recommend it.

The manager made me feel at home and was incredibly patient, helping everyone with whatever they needed. They even arranged a spacious parking spot right across from the hotel, which put me at ease since I'm obsessed with cars. I also liked that it was sensibly pet-friendly, with several colleagues travelling with normal-sized pets. The hotel is peaceful and right by the beach, with a friendly bar team and a reasonably priced shop. The restaurant served fantastic food at both breakfast and dinner. My room was great, everything felt high quality, and the shower had perfect water pressure.
