Just A Hostel

That was a very unpleasant experience. My friend already had a reservation, and my girlfriend and I needed somewhere for the night. She called, and the man said there was one spot in the women’s dorm and another in the “common area.” My girlfriend agreed, thinking “common area” meant a bed for me in a mixed dorm. After I arrived and paid, he showed me my sleeping spot: the kitchen and laundry area, where anyone could come and go. I was shocked and asked for a little time to think. He kept coming back to ask what I’d decided. I told him I was looking for another place, and he got angry. He said he’d given me a 15% discount, that it was already nighttime, and that I’d have nowhere to sleep if I didn’t accept the kitchen at his offered price. It felt like blackmail. When I said the arrangement was unacceptable and unreasonable, he insulted me, saying, “You just want to sleep for free!” For comparison, my girlfriend’s bed in the women’s dorm cost 36 lev, and he wanted 30 lev for me to sleep in an open kitchen with no privacy or security. I suggested a 50% discount would be more reasonable, but he became furious and aggressive. He insisted I’d never find anywhere else and claimed he was “doing me a favor” by taking only 15% off. He basically blackmailed me, saying, “Then go find something if you can at this time of night!” I left and asked for a refund. He kept insulting me while pretending to be a “man of honor.” Charging 30 lev for a night in an open kitchen is shameful. His behavior was completely unethical, unprofessional and dishonest.
