Guest House Dima

The view is great and the place has potential, but the basics were missing. At 69 lv per night, it also wasn't a small amount for what was offered. Let the pictures speak. Finding it with navigation was tricky. You turn off the main road onto a bumpy dirt track, and a low car can't get into the parking area. Nobody welcomed us. It felt like we'd walked into an empty building, and we waited ten minutes just to find out whether we had a room. The hosts seemed to be Ukrainians and barely spoke, so you had to drag answers out of them. Even when we greeted them on the stairs, they said nothing. The housekeeping was poor too. It seemed they didn't think soap or toilet paper needed replacing, or the bin emptied. By the third day it was full and starting to smell. We emptied it ourselves, and Roman (the host?) silently handed over new bags when we asked. Coming back from an evening walk felt like being an intruder. The “hostesses” downstairs watched us like neighborhood gossips, even after we said hello. There were only two clothespins, though we needed somewhere to hang three swimsuits, two bath towels, and two beach towels. The air conditioner was dusty and moldy and looked as if it hadn't been cleaned since installation. Mold was painted over on the walls, and the bathroom drain was blocked.

We had everything we needed in the room, including bathroom soap. It was clean, pleasant, and had a sea view. The air conditioner worked and cooled the room almost right away. The hosts welcomed us warmly and were cheerful and hospitable. They asked whether we wanted them to come in to change the bin liners and toilet paper or leave supplies outside, since some guests prefer privacy. We chose to have them leave things, and bags and toilet paper rolls appeared outside our door each day. The house is easy to find, in a nice spot above Harmani beach, about a three-minute walk away and right by the lively street. The old town is around a 20-minute walk. It was a peaceful place, and we were very happy with our vacation stay.

For the price, this was more than good. The room was clean, the fridge, microwave, and air conditioning all worked, and there was always hot water. We were welcomed warmly and got help whenever we needed it. I'd recommend it.

This is what it looked like after two people showered one after the other for ten minutes. In thicker slippers, just the soles sink in. With flip-flops, a lot of your foot goes in too.
