Hotel Elegance

We only got in at 23.00 after a long wait at the Turkish / Bulgarian border, hoping to sleep before continuing our trip. At first things seemed fine: the front desk guy was kind and helped me put something in the fridge, and there was a minibar in the room. But the bathroom smelled so bad that we had to leave the window open just to stay in there. Then, with no sound insulation, noise from 7.30 made it impossible to sleep, and the phone rang at 8.30 for no reason. We didn't get the rest we needed. I really can't recommend this place.

I booked two rooms through Booking for a family occasion, one for my parents and one for me. The hotel offered payment at the property, something I've used abroad since the pandemic without trouble. Then the manager began sending demanding messages saying I had to pay the full amount immediately or the booking wouldn't be confirmed. If that was the policy, they shouldn't offer pay-at-the-property bookings. There was apparently a festival during our dates, but that doesn't make the offer any less misleading. I canceled and booked somewhere else. I hate being treated like I'm a fool.

For US $44, my one night in Room 104 felt like very good value. The location was a real plus, near the main sights and pedestrian avenue, and breakfast was huge. The staff were nice and spoke English, and there was a small fridge in the room.

My room was cold even with the heater turned all the way up, and I could hear a dog barking in another room. Breakfast hours were brief and the food was poor. Then money was taken from my bank account for a different reservation that wasn't mine. A week later I got back less because of the currency conversion, and they told me they couldn't do anything else. Outrageous. Never again!
