Jack Family Hotel

The reception guy spoke fluent English and was really helpful, so communication was easy. We ate a late dinner when we arrived and had breakfast early the next morning at the hotel restaurant. The room was in a wooden semi-detached house beside the pine forest, which made for a quiet stop on our way to Greece. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. There was parking, a flat-screen TV and AC, though no fridge in the room.

The rest of the place was okay, but breakfast was very limited, just grilled bread with yellow cheese on top, served rather than set out as a buffet. The bathroom was awful. The overhead shower is fixed, so the water runs over you, and there’s no movable shower for intimate washing. There is a separate intimate shower by the toilet, but its water is icy cold and the hose is too short to reach the bathing area, so you can only use it while sitting on the toilet. At the sink there was no soap, just 2-in-1 shower gel and shampoo in the bathing area.

We stayed in the brick building, though the wooden chalet behind it looked nice from outside. The hotel is surrounded by pine trees, with large, clean rooms and a closed parking area that felt very secure. There’s also a tennis court, and you can have breakfast outside on the terrace among the trees. It’s a very good option near Stara Zagora, especially if you’re heading to Thassos, Grrece. I worried the quality might be lower because the price was so good, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise.
