Admiral Plaza Hotel

The apartment kitchen wasn't equipped to make meals: there were no teaspoons, just one saucepan and two cups, one of them cracked. Ants were all over the sunbeds, and with no shower curtain the bathroom floor got soaked. The WiFi kept disconnecting. The staff were miserable, especially the woman at reception and the security man. I'll never return.

The only good thing about this hotel is its location. We asked for a pool view but got a room with no view at all. They said the hotel was fully booked and couldn't move us. Our beds were cleaned only twice, the fridge leaked, and the shower doors were broken, leaving the bathroom floor constantly soaked. There was no bath. WiFi only worked in reception and at the pool, not in the rooms. We ran out of toilet roll and asked reception for more, but were told we'd have to wait until the next morning. The woman at reception, possibly the manager, was rude and miserable. Stay at your own risk :)

We knew what we'd booked, and for the money, we can't complain. The hotel and room were decent, and the balcony was huge. Lots of locals own apartments there too. The hotel bar was okay, though the food was expensive for the area and minging. The sofa bed was the worst bed I've slept on, but the other beds were fine and the shower was really powerful. I'd stay here again for a drinking holiday in Sunny Beach, since it's only a 5-10 minute walk to the nightlife.

Don't pay for breakfast in advance. It isn't worth it, and buying it on the spot is a little cheaper. I expected a buffet, but instead you get a plate of food that doesn't justify the price, and I always left hungry. There's only one juice, which tastes like orange color, not the fruit. For the same price, €9/person/day, you can eat much better elsewhere. The hotel gets ratings of 3 to 4 stars on different sites, but on a good day I'd give it 2 stars at most. I've stayed in many 2-3 star hotels that were much better, including ones with buffet breakfasts. The shower cubicle is so small you can't turn around properly, making it hard to wash your hair or shave your legs. Water sprayed everywhere except towards you. The taps were also a concern: move one even slightly the wrong way and boiling hot water came out within seconds. Luckily we had no children with us, as that could have been very dangerous. The bathroom lights flickered and the toilet didn't flush properly. The curtains barely blocked the sun, so pack a sleep mask if you want to sleep past sunrise. The pool rules forbid saving sunbeds, but early in the morning there were already more chairs covered with towels than there were free seats, and nobody was around. In our week there, we never got a sunbed during the best sunny hours. Staff did nothing about the reserved chairs, such as removing the towels. The room's air conditioning was great, the bar staff were nice, and there was a beautiful kitten wandering around the bar.
