The good parts of our seven days at Izida Palace were the comfortable beds, good shower, air conditioning, nice pool, and a location about 10-15 minutes’ walk from the main beach strip. The housekeeping woman was also kind and did her best to understand our requests, even though she didn’t speak English. The room itself was in good condition, and we still had a pleasant, relaxing stay. Check-in was a different story. Izida Palace has no reception of its own, which wasn’t mentioned in the booking, so we had to go next door to Dawn Park hotel. We arrived around 20:30 and the grumpy security guard handling reception that evening spoke no English. He led us around for about 15 minutes before we found the right room, without explaining the magnetic key fob or how to get in after hours. The bed hadn’t been made, the sheets and towels had blood stains, and several things listed in the booking were missing, including a toaster, microwave, mugs, sofa, and dining table. The service from other staff felt standoffish and unwelcoming. It would have been nice to get a warmer greeting and the facilities we had booked.

We spent a week in apartment A12 at Izida Palace. It was a beautifully furnished studio for two or three, with free WiFi and a large TV that had Netflix and YouTube. The spa had great saunas, and the swimming pool was wonderful. For the price, it was great value.

The hotel itself was pleasant, and the receptionist was especially kind and quick to respond. The restaurant was a letdown, though. Its menu wasn’t very varied, and most of the staff were Ukrainians whose Bulgarian seemed questionable. I don’t find it acceptable to have to speak English because they don’t understand me.
