Hotel Flamingo

I can’t recommend this hotel at all. It felt extremely dirty, and the staff seemed poorly trained and generally unhappy. The bathroom had no ventilation, mold, and very old, dirty fixtures. The terrace was filthy too, with uncomfortable, dirty sofas. Our all-inclusive food was very bad. The juice in the restaurant seemed full of limescale and wasn’t drinkable. The room linen wasn’t changed until the last day, and I was struck by something I still don’t understand. We couldn’t find secure free parking. We were told to park in a field if we wanted, but it didn’t feel secure, which made it hard to relax because of car thefts in Bulgaria. The website says parking is free, but those spaces were reserved for staff, or supposedly booked in advance for a fee. For a four-star hotel, that’s an unacceptable problem. The price-to-quality ratio was zero. This hotel doesn’t deserve any stars and should be taken off the market.

Everything else was good, but parking was the one problem. The booking said parking was available, yet on arrival we had to pay to park somewhere else. A kid working there also tried to scam us over the parking.

We stayed at the Flamingo Hotel in room 327 in July 2025. New arrivals can leave their bags in a free storage room on the ground floor, and we were able to check into our room by 12:00. It was cleaned daily, with towels changed every two days. There was AC in the room and a hairdryer in the bathroom, though the bathroom ventilation didn’t work. The beach was an easy 10-minute walk. Carrefour is to the hotel’s left, while Lidl is about 10 minutes away on foot. To the right, Janet, opposite the Kuban hotel, has the cheapest prices and is also a 10-minute walk away. The bar operates from 12:00 to 22:00. Aysun the barmaid makes delicious cocktails. There’s also a paid bar by the pool, where the sociable bartender Stelian works. The free cocktails include Blue Lagoon, Sex on the Beach, Mojito, Cuba Libre, and Gin Tonic. The Savoy spirits include white and dark rum, whiskey, vodka, and gin. There’s also menthol liqueur, grape rakia, white and red Karnobat wine, Zagorka light beer, Pepsi, Sprite, 7 Up, and fresh orange and pineapple juices. Tien, an employee in the restaurant, can point you to the tastiest dishes. Fresh, delicious food was served daily. Breakfast included cold meats, cheese, eggs, omelette, beans in tomato sauce, fresh vegetables and fruit, croissants and buns, Bulgarian mekitsi and banitsa, jams, and confitures. At lunch there was fish, chicken and pork, meat and vegetable casseroles, soup, four salads, and stuffed peppers. Desserts included cakes, custard, baklava, apricots, watermelons, and melons. Afternoon tea meant homemade pizza, chocolate and vanilla muffins, coffee, and tea. Dinner had Bulgarian kebabs, cabbage rolls, plenty of side dishes, fish sticks, onion rings, stewed meat with vegetables, and casseroles. There were five ice cream flavours in the freezer, with waffle cones beside it, but the queue was long and everyone had to serve themselves a spoonful at a time. Every other evening, DJ Nikolay held disco parties on the terrace by the pool, playing English and Ukrainian hits. Show Nikolay a song on YouTube and he’ll happily play the music you request. He’s very popular with the dancers.

We loved the food, especially the vegetarian choices and traditional dishes that aren’t easy to find elsewhere. The family-owned hotel has spacious, very clean rooms, each with a balcony. The pool area is beautiful, the bar makes great cocktails, and all the staff were attentive. I’d love to come back. Highly recommended!
