Helena Sands

The poolside bar and restaurant were a real highlight. We had dinner there one night and it was so good. Helena's beach access was lovely and tucked away from the busier tourist areas. Our room had a fantastic view, and the hotel's north Sunny Beach location kept us a little distance from the touristy, divey shops and bars, which are fun to visit but not where I'd want to stay. We chose full board, breakfast and dinner, and the food was pretty good rather than great, with lots of choices. We had a really great stay.

The location works well, and the waiters and housekeeping staff were top-notch. But front desk service was unacceptable. Whenever I asked for help or made a request, they said it couldn't be done without checking or even trying. I definitely won't be coming back.

The pool was excellent, the loungers comfortable, and the sandy beach was warm and lovely just across the promenade. We had a lovely junior suite, kept exceptionally clean, and everything else seemed spotless too. Staff were friendly and very helpful, including the restaurant team, even though some didn't speak English. My husband had a problem with his knees, and the reception guys went out of their way to help, even hiring crutches for him. The location, rooms, food, and service were all so good. It reminded us of our favourite hotel, EL Mirador in Tenerife. Apart from my husband's knees, everything was perfect, and we're definitely coming back.

Our week here was quiet and relaxing, and there was something different to eat every day. The food was as good as you could ask for. Absolutely amazing. We'd highly recommend it and will definitely return.
