Paradise SPA Hotel

We really enjoyed the spa and the outdoor space, which was great for relaxing or letting kids play. The hotel is in a peaceful, well-kept setting, with plenty of parking. Our room was cozy and tidy, and the restaurant was a highlight too. Lunch came out quickly and tasted good. Breakfast and dinner were buffet-style, with a nice range of salads and cheeses, plus unusual options like spiced bread and potatoes. I’d recommend it for a nature-side break, especially if you want to use the pool.

The food was decent, though nothing special for what it costs, and the staff were polite. Still, I came away very disappointed with the hotel and its value for money. The location is lovely, within walking distance of Batak lake, but our room felt much smaller than its price suggested. It also wasn’t clean, and there was mold on the walls. For all three days, the bathroom had a strong sewage or drain smell. The spa was only average. The sauna had no water, and on weekdays it wasn’t open for the full advertised hours. Guests also had to pay extra for the salt room. The pool was okay, but there was no lifeguard while we were there, and the place was generally noisy. The staff didn’t pay much attention to the “Do not disturb” signs. Worst of all, one day someone from the staff came into our room and destroyed a swallow’s nest on the balcony to stop the birds making a mess. There was nothing to prevent them from building another nest, so I expect the staff will keep destroying them.

We found the hotel suited a week away as well as a shorter weekend break. The secure parking, grassy backyard and kids’ play area were useful, and you can rent bicycles too. The spa area was clean, everything was working, and there was plenty of space. The salt room costs a reasonable amount and is worth trying. At the restaurant, the staff were friendly and professional, the food was delicious, and hygiene seemed up to standard. Reception sounded rather tough and arrogant on the phone, but in person they were friendly and helpful with our questions.

We barely slept during our three nights here because loud music kept coming from this hotel and nearby properties. We called the police twice. After midnight there was nobody at reception to help, they didn’t answer the phone, and the hotel gets locked around that time, so you can’t even leave in an emergency. The rooms are tiny, damp and moldy, with dust throughout the bedroom and hair all over the bathroom. The bathroom also smelled like sewers. Staff were rude and unhelpful when we raised the noise, saying nothing could be done and it wasn’t their problem. They wouldn’t try to prevent it and showed no understanding. The spa was a letdown as well, with mold everywhere. It didn’t stay open until 8 as advertised, since the sauna and steam bath were switched off around 7:15. One of the worst spa hotel experiences I’ve had. I’ll never return. The price is poor for what you get.
