We only meant to stop for breakfast, but ended up staying much longer than planned. We arrived early, before service had started, and Anna greeted us with a smile, sat us down, and brought coffee while we waited. She made us feel like family right from the start. She also arranged a traditional Turkish Hammam massage for us, which was divine and left us relaxed and refreshed. The restaurant is outstanding. The chef clearly puts so much care into the food, from the flavors and presentation to the originality. Every dish looked like a work of art and tasted as good as it promised. Bey House Royal Hotel has elegant, warm decor, and its position in Veliko Tarnovo, surrounded by history and charm, made me feel like royalty in a castle. Every staff member was attentive and sincere, and went out of their way to make us comfortable. Thank you to all of them, especially Anna, who made that first morning so special. We’re already counting down to our next visit to Veliko Tarnovo. There’s no question where we’ll stay. Bey House Royal Hotel feels like a place to belong, not just somewhere to sleep.

The location made exploring easy, just steps from Tsarevets Fortress and within walking distance of the city center. Bey House Royal Hotel felt like a fairytale, with a mix of luxury, authenticity, and wonderful hospitality. We were offered complimentary drinks when we arrived. Five minutes after checking in, the staff emailed to ask if everything was right and whether we needed help. The spacious, beautiful room had everything we needed, including a quality coffee machine and plenty of capsules, fine teas, and enough bottled water for our stay. The hotel restaurant is a must. The food was exquisite, beautifully presented, and served flawlessly. It suited the elegant feel of the hotel perfectly. Everything, from the service and amenities to the food, location, and attention to detail, exceeded my expectations. Bey House Royal Hotel is a gem where history, comfort, and hospitality come together. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Veliko Tarnovo!

We enjoyed walking to Arbassia and to the Kartala waterfall, and there’s plenty to do in Veliko Tarnova. At the hotel, reception gave us a lovely welcome and helped us plan the details of our trip. Our room was like a beautiful suite, spotlessly clean, with a wonderfully comfortable bed and blackout blinds that gave us a great night’s sleep. We had half board, with breakfast and dinner at the hotel. The chef was very accommodating when we asked for plain yoghurt, honey, and fruit at breakfast. Thank you, chef 🤩

We booked Bey House Hotel in Bulgaria through Booking.com the day before we expected to arrive. The listing said pets were allowed on request, with charges possibly applying. I messaged to say we’d be bringing a large dog, over 10kgs, and the hotel confirmed the special request, saying there would be no extra charge. Three hours later, we were told dogs up to 10 kg were accepted and there would be a one-time cleaning fee of 100 BGN (50 Euro). We weren't allowed to cancel, so we continued driving to the hotel. On arrival, the manager said they did not accept dogs over 10kgs. As a goodwill gesture, they offered to let our dog stay for 200 BGN / 100 Euro, or have it stay outside in the garden / terrace area. We thought that was unreasonable. I explained that European hotels we’ve used either take our dog free or charge a reasonable 10-15 Euro per stay, and that we’d be willing to pay 20 Euro. The manager wouldn’t compromise and said no refund was possible because we’d booked less than 14 days before arrival. We found the price unacceptably high, asked for a refund, were refused, and left to find another hotel for the night. When I later asked Booking.com for a full refund, they offered credit of 420 BGN toward a future stay. That doesn’t work for us, as we don’t expect to return to Bulgaria.

We loved our stay and will definitely come back. In my opinion, it’s the best hotel in Veliko. It’s downtown and an easy walk to restaurants, shops, and bars, yet it sits on a quiet, lovely little street, just five minutes from Tsaravets fortress. Check-in was quick, and Giovanna was great: warm, polite, communicative, and very fast to answer requests. She also covered breakfast service since they don’t have waiters in the morning, and did a lovely job. We got complimentary lemonade on arrival, with just the right sweet and sour balance. The hotel has a lovely restaurant with a terrace and bar, and a spa downstairs with a Turkish bath, sauna, and massage. You can use it later at night too, as long as you give reception 30 minutes' notice. Our room had a little living area with a TV, minibar, coffee, and kettle, plus a hallway closet. There was a big bathroom with both a bathtub and walk-in shower, and a spacious bedroom with a king-size bed, TV, and blackout curtains. Half board was included in the room rate, but we only had breakfast, and every dish we tried was delicious. I would have preferred the pancakes filled with something other than walnuts, since I’m not a fan, but that’s minor. The coffee was good and service was quick. Breakfast in the garden was a treat: good music at a decent volume, sunshine, pigeons bathing in the fountain, delicious food, the smell of coffee, and a great vibe. One thing I wish had been different was the cleanliness of our room. I’m pretty chill and didn’t make a fuss, but there was long, dark hair all over, in the bathroom, on the floors, couch, and even on a towel I used to wipe my face. Even so, everything else was flawless, and I think the hotel is worth it. Checkout was quick. Natural products are available to buy on display at reception. There’s parking in front, but remind the receptionist to put the paper in your car window or your wheel will be blocked.
