Anna-Kristina Hotel

We arrived extremely late, but they still let us check in. The room was cozy and clean, and the breakfast had plenty to choose from. Having it beside the pool in early September was especially nice. Everyone treated us kindly and helped us out, and I'll remember that great morning swim.

I only ate at the restaurant, and the food was full of flavor and really tasty. By Bulgarian standards, the price felt fair for the quality. It's one of the better places in town, and I'd recommend it.

We had a good breakfast outdoors, and the staff were friendly. They could have checked whether we enjoyed our stay or whether everything had been all right, though. The building is lovely, the location is nice, and we could reserve a parking spot with overnight charging for our car. The beds were fine, but the sofa bed felt uncomfortable and as if it might break at any moment, though it didn't. The bathroom sealant had dark spots and needs replacing, and there was a slight musty smell in the bathroom in the morning. We'd come back, but hope those issues are taken seriously.

We booked two rooms, a VIP suite and a regular one, and had a pretty awful stay. The pool was crowded with children jumping in because people who weren't staying at the hotel could use it too. There was no bathroom ventilation, and breakfast was basic, with pastries, eggs and processed meat but not many healthy choices. The air conditioning didn't cool either room. It was just a fan, and the rooms stayed hot and humid and smelled musty. I complained, and on the first night the young woman at reception came to check. She said the settings were right and she'd speak with maintenance, but nothing happened. When I raised it again the next day, she said I should have complained earlier in the morning because maintenance staff had left by 2 PM. The units were old and looked as if they had never been cleaned.
