Gulf Executive Residence

The apartment was clean and spacious, but the smoke made our stay awful. We were in an executive suite on the 14th floor this weekend, and the hallway smelled of cigarettes as soon as we stepped out of the lift. One bedroom's air conditioning was blowing cigarette scented air, so we couldn't sleep there and ended up on the living room sofa. We're allergic to smoke, and left with burning eyes and runny noses. I reported it to reception in the morning and asked them to find which flat the smell was coming from. At checkout, the receptionist said housekeeping hadn't given him any feedback about identifying the smokers. We paid a lot for a nice hotel, but careless guests and poor management ruined the stay. I expected at least a complimentary night as compensation. Instead, they said they'd give us a better room next time. We'll never stay here again, and anyone who can't tolerate smoking should stay away.

The apartments are roomy, clean, well furnished, and in a good location. But the kitchen had no basic cleaning supplies, not even dish soap, a sponge, or detergent to use until you could shop for your own. You'll also need to bring coffee mugs. That's why I gave it two stars.

Please recognize Mr. Hasan Quddus for the care he puts into his work. He sticks to his daily cleaning schedule, checks my room each day, and keeps housekeeping standards up. He's friendly and professional, and gets extra towels or water to guests quickly when they ask. His service really deserves recognition.

I've stayed at Gulf Hotel Residence many times, and the service is always fabulous. The rooms are large and the food is great, especially the hibachi, sake, and sushi at Sato. The two bedroom apartments are the best choice, with loads of space plus a kitchen, dining area, and living room. Under $300, too.
