The hotel is in a great central spot, with places like City Center mall and The Bahrain Gate market nearby. Inside, it’s in good shape and the furniture isn’t too old. My main issues were that the room smelled of smoke, which suggests the no-smoking policy isn’t strict, and that regular maintenance seems to be clearly lacking, especially in the toilet. I’d rate it 4/5.

The location was convenient and accessible, but the service and staff attitude made our stay very disappointing. At check-in, STEFFI was unwelcoming and spoke impolitely. She first took payment for the accommodation through the POS using my Saudi card, then asked for a cash deposit, which I didn’t have. She insisted on manually taking my card details and said, “I will refund you, noh?!” When I questioned why she couldn’t use the POS again, since it had worked for the room payment, she said the card wasn’t working. The whole handling felt very unprofessional. At night, with the situation outside not good, we asked room service for a little salt and pepper. They said they weren’t allowed to provide it. We felt there was no consideration for guest comfort in those circumstances, even though they told us it was something we had to provide ourselves. Breakfast was included in what we paid, but at 9:00 AM we were told the restaurant was already closed. We hadn’t been properly informed ahead of time. I called reception for information and got none. STEFFI answered, blamed me by saying I should call them, raised her voice, and said room service must have called, as if guests were lying. She also said the restaurant wasn’t answering because they were off duty. Good location aside, the service needs serious improvement. Hospitality should mean guests feel welcome and cared for, whether it’s a small hotel, a hostel, or a larger place. That wasn’t our experience, and I don’t think STEFFI’s attitude belongs in the hospitality industry.

The room still smelled of cigarettes even though it was non-smoking, and there was cigarette ash in the nightstand drawers as soon as we arrived. The room hadn’t been properly cleaned after the previous guest. Despite telling reception the smell was really bad, all the pillows and the comforter smelled like smoke too. The RFID lock and key needed resetting several times, and housekeeping didn’t know how to fix a flat sheet.

The air conditioning only worked in one room of the suite, leaving the other room without working AC. We reported it repeatedly through the night, but were told no technician was available. The suite itself was something we neither requested nor needed, yet Dolir (if I recall her name correctly) insisted on assigning it to us. She also held onto my passport to secure a cash deposit. We explained that retaining a guest’s passport this way is considered unlawful in my country and could cause me legal complications, but she remained focused on getting the cash immediately and refused electronic payment. This was for a one-night stay, and it’s unreasonable to expect travelers to carry large sums of cash. The experience showed poor service, little flexibility, and disappointing professionalism. Staff seemed much more attentive to payment than to guest comfort.

The room was clean, the air conditioning worked properly, and the hotel was quiet. You can find a decent suite in this neighborhood at a good price. Check-in was easy, though they did ask for a deposit. Guest parking is available and you enter it with your hotel card. If you’ve just arrived to check in, though, you’ll need to park outside first to get that card. For dining, you may want to look elsewhere, since there are many good options. Olympia gym is a good choice for a workout, but daily entry costs 8 bd.
