Guesthouse cocotiers

The staff are really nice and helpful. The guesthouse is in a calm, very clean part of cotonou, making it a good spot to relax after exploring the busier areas. You can also walk to the airport and the beach.

This turned into a horrible experience, and better care could have made a difference. Our group asked about booking 6 rooms, and we'd been discussing it for a month. The whole time, the conversation was about rooms, and I paid half the deposit, around $300. When we arrived, they said we'd booked beds, not full rooms. We thought we'd have entire rooms, so we were understandably upset. They wouldn't refund us, and they also wouldn't let us use the deposit for 3 beds because we hadn't paid the other half. Why keep saying “rooms” if the booking is for beds? Something clearly got lost in translation. If it's a hostel, you rent beds, not rooms, and I wish that had been made clearer. The rooms aren't nice either, and AC costs an extra 5k. Paying 20k cfa for a bed in a place that isn't very nice in Cotonou seems absurd, especially when there are many better options. I could've been less upset if they'd at least let 3 of us stay, but we lost $300 and won't get it back. I don't recommend it. Find nicer lodging on Airbnb.

The front porch is especially inviting, and overall this is quite nice for budget lodging. I had everything I needed in the private room with AC and a bathroom, though I splurged for it. There's no generator, so nights can get hot when the power goes out. I also think the kitchen would work better if each room had a designated place for its things. It's a very comfortable guesthouse, and I'd definitely recommend it.

It's affordable, close to the airport, and the staff are very friendly. The one drawback is there's no Wifi in the rooms. Fix that and it'd be 5 stars!
