The rooms aren’t modern, but they were spotless, and mine was big, spacious, and had AC. I enjoyed my visit from start to finish. The airport pickup was on time, and breakfast had plenty of options. I also spent a while by the pool before leaving, where the service was just as good. Staff were polite and smiley, service was quick, and the food was good. I’d happily recommend staying here.

The sea views from this hotel are hard to match in Benin. It’s in the best location near the seaside.

Their food is so good, with the seasoning just right, and it’s well worth what it costs.

I visited as a pool guest on a fairly quiet day. The pools were great and kid friendly, and the service felt professional. The poolside restaurant was quick, and the food was tasty. Bathrooms were clean and modern, with indoor and outdoor showers for rinsing off.

Watching the boats from the open-air restaurant was a highlight. They raced past or came back from fishing, and the sunset behind the bridge was breathtaking, with orange light reflecting off the river. Hotel du Lac sits right on the shore of Cotonou, and the outdoor restaurant looks out over the sea and estuary. The seafood selection was wide and delicious. Our room and bedding were comfortable, and the hot water stayed consistent. The lobby is a bit small, but the large outdoor restaurant and pool area make up for it, and there’s a sizable indoor dining space too. Parking felt a little tight. Front desk service was excellent and made the stay more pleasant. I’d definitely recommend Hotel du Lac for a visit to Cotonou.
