The Centrepoint Hotel, Brunei

There are lots of shops nearby, and the location is good. The staff were friendly, but the room let things down. The bathtub leaked and was set quite high, and there was no hot water.

I was in Brunei for a business trip and stayed at center point hotel. Now that the water situation in Brunei is back to normal, I still found the stay very disappointing. They need to improve the service, and the equipment is too old. There was no hot water.

The breakfast was nicely prepared, and I enjoyed the range of desserts. Getting around is easy too, with big malls and night markets close by. Inside, though, the hotel feels very old. Our mattress sagged and the springs creaked, but the bigger problem was how cold the room stayed. We switched the air conditioning off on the first day, yet the chill lasted until we left. The windows were sealed shut, so there was no way to air the room out, and it felt as if the air might not have changed since the building was first made. The cold and stale air seemed like a health concern. After we got home, our family became seriously ill and struggled with phlegm-related problems. It’s a shame to find this in such a large hotel in a prime area. We came away with both nice and unpleasant memories. If they made it possible to open the windows, I’d consider staying again.

The breakfast menu never changed during our stay, and there wasn’t enough hot water for a bath. We were here on a family trip, and I was really disappointed with the wifi and the food choices.
