Ecolodge La Estancia

It’s a bit of a trek up from the port, and Google Maps can mislead you. Once you get there, though, the accommodations are charming and the views are spectacular. They take the ecolodge side seriously, with some impressive, effective sustainable features. Dinner and breakfast were both great. I’d highly recommend it for a visit to Isla del Sol.

The cabins sit in a peaceful, garden-like setting, each with a gorgeous lake view. We loved the eco-friendly mission, and having dinner included was nice. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was clean and well appointed, and the starry sky at night was amazing. The water heater wasn’t working on the night we stayed, and the Wi-Fi was very unreliable. Still, you have to remember where you are and enjoy the slower pace.

The lake and snow-capped mountains made for beautiful views. Our individual cottage had a natural, interesting heating setup, plenty of hot water, and a heavy comforter over a very comfortable bed, so we slept perfectly. The service was friendly, and the food was very good. Try the lake trout.

The hike takes around 40 minutes and can be tough if you’re not in shape, but the lodge can arrange for a staff member to help with luggage. Once there, the nature-surrounded setting and breathtaking Lake Titicaca views made the effort worthwhile. My family and I had a stay we’ll remember for a long time. The staff were attentive from the friendly welcome onward, helping with our bags and sharing useful information about the area. The rooms were cozy, comfortable, and spotless, with heating and lots of extra blankets. We all slept well, and the lodge’s design felt in harmony with nature. Dinner was a highlight: delicious trout with a flavorful soup. The chefs did a great job. We were also impressed from the start by the accommodation quality, cleanliness, and service. The whole experience made for a peaceful, rejuvenating family retreat in La Isla del Sol, La Paz Bolivia. We highly recommend Ecolodge.
