Iskay Boutique Hostel

The hostel was quiet, clean, and comfortable, with a good location, nice breakfast, and a restaurant. But watch out for their terrible currency conversion. I paid in cash in bolivianos and was charged much more because of the rate they use. They prefer cash in dollars.

The staff were really friendly, and the weather was nice while I relaxed over beers and cocktails in the afternoon. I had the fixed lunch menu, which was really good. I'm Bolivian and from La Paz, and I love this restaurant, it has one of the best city views. I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for somewhere to unwind in busy downtown La Paz.

The rooms were decent and the location fantastic, but the way management handled the booking made it impossible to recommend this hotel. We booked two nights directly and explicitly confirmed the total price for two people for both nights. After the first night, the receptionist said that price was for one night only and seemed surprised we hadn't checked out. We first tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but after reading other reviews here, it looks like a recurring tactic. There was another pricing surprise when we arrived. We were told the room was ready early, then two hours later an unannounced "early check-in fee" appeared. It made us extremely uncomfortable, like we were being watched for another chance to charge us. The lack of transparency made the stay feel less like hospitality and more like a scam.

The restaurant was amazing, and Carlos was so nice to us. Our room was huge and the hostel was very clean. The shower had great temperature and really strong water pressure. Reception helped with everything we needed too. Thanks so much, Cinthya, you were so kind to us!
