2/10
The staff were friendly, the breakfast was okay, and the location was good. But the manager, Juan Carlos, misled our group about the price. We only found out after we had checked in and spent the first night that he’d increased it by 30%. He blamed the owner, who seemed shocked when we asked and said he hadn’t known about it. He apologized, but we didn’t get a refund.

The building has a grand old feel, and the staff were very attentive. Breakfast was decent, the water was warm, and there’s an elevator. It’s close to the main square and just one block from the Bolivar carnival parade route. Wi-Fi was intermittent, though it worked reliably in a common area. The price during carnival was outrageous.

The corridors and staircases could use better lighting and some finishing touches, though the building’s architecture is beautiful. The mattress was good, the hot water worked well, the staff were friendly, and breakfast included fresh fruit.

It felt too old for what they charged. Much too expensive.
