Pampa & Selva Hotel

The rooftop breakfast area has nice views and an outdoor setting, though the options are quite basic. There's no elevator, but the shower had plenty of hot water and the room had AC. Check-in was easy, and the reception staff were friendly. The hotel feels good quality and is right in the heart of town, just a few minutes from the airport and bus station, with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. I had a pleasant stay and would come back.

The bed was comfortable, but there was terrible black mold in the shower and we found animal droppings in the room. The included breakfast wasn't great either. The cook wouldn't give me more milk for my second coffee, so I went next door to buy some. I don't think she was thrilled with my determination. When we tried to pay for our booking.com reservation, we were quoted an extremely high rate in local currency, like the previous reviewer said. Staff canceled our booking.com stay so we could pay the local rate. Best to avoid.

The room was comfortable enough after a jungle tour, but the hotel was just okay and too expensive for what it offered. The walls had chipped paint, and the sheets were stained with what I guess were marks that couldn't be washed out. AC and shower were nice. Breakfast only started at 7:30, too late for us, and we couldn't get a takeaway breakfast, which every other hotel of the same rating we stayed in across Peru and Bolivia had offered. We also paid more than the amount shown on booking.com.

The location was the best part, right in the center of this small town. The hotel is simple but has what you need. At first I got a rather small second-floor room, with the A/C right above the bed. That same day they offered me a larger room on the 3rd floor with a badass view. It was clean and spacious, and I loved having breakfast while looking at the horizon. The view was really nice from both my window and the 4th floor dining area. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise: scrambled eggs with ham or mushrooms, bread with butter and jam, fruit, and coffee or tea. The staff were really friendly, and their dining recommendations didn't disappoint. I really enjoyed my stay.
