La Villa Chiquitana

The staff at Villa Chiquitana were friendly and always tried to make our stay pleasant. It has a cozy, welcoming feel, whether you’re there for a meal, by the pool, or staying longer. The food was excellent, and it’s one of the few places in town with tasty vegetarian choices. Breakfast was especially good. I found the rooms very comfortable, with a restful night’s sleep, and it was a great place to recharge after a long day in the field. I wholeheartedly recommend it and hope to return.

The barman makes an amazing Caipiriña, so don’t miss it. We spent four nights here about a week ago, if I remember right, and loved the stay. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the peaceful setting made it easy to relax. From the garden, you might even spot toucans. Everyone was warm and helpful, and the owner personally helped arrange a tour. We got to see Santuario de Chochis, Santiago de Chiquitos, and Aguas Calientes, all breathtaking places. Our driver spent the whole day with us. We’re sorry we forgot his name, but he was kind and professional, and told us a lot about local culture. We can’t recommend this place enough if you’re heading to the area.

The staff make for a warm atmosphere, and the service is good. Gloria, the young woman working in the restaurant, was especially lovely. She had a pleasant attitude and kept checking that we had everything we needed. The owner was kind and attentive, and helped arrange tours and transport. The Villa Chiquitana has comfortable rooms with tasteful decor, and its restaurant serves excellent meals with local dishes and vegetarian options. For me, it’s the best hotel in San Jose.
