Hotel Asturias

The facilities are very old, and the internet is slow with poor Wi-Fi coverage. I’d put this at two or three stars, not four.

The grounds are lovely, with fruit trees, endemic species, and a huge group of parrots that are always there. The breakfast was tasty and good, and they sometimes serve lunch too, though that’s not included. The location is perfect, and despite being old, the rooms are well maintained, cozy, and pretty. Service was good. But after we booked through Booking.com, they tried to raise the price and blamed Booking.com, saying, “These people at Booking.com set whatever they want.” Sir, we know you and/or your team set the prices. That excuse for trying to get more money is useless, and you should handle it better. We also came for the pool and found it dirty. They tried to “clean” it, but didn’t really do so. I understand it’s a difficult time and the hotel has had a boom, but they need to be more humble and keep things as shown in the photos. The attempted extra charge and filthy pool really dampened our enthusiasm for the trip. I hope they improve those things. I’ll recommend the hotel only if they do.
