Ibis Santa Cruz De La Sierra

We stayed one night and left. The room was tiny, like a box, and now we’re in a much nicer hotel with even a couch for $27 a day. Don’t get scammed. My husband was left with a very bad impression of the Ibis hotel in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. I had reserved in advance after calling reception and being told to book through WhatsApp. My brother made the reservation, gave them my information, and was told it would cost 271 Bs, about $39USD. But when my American husband and I arrived tired at around 11 pm, the receptionist said, “Hmm, these are the prices now,” and tried to charge us $80 a night, about 800 BOB. I showed him the WhatsApp conversation with the quoted price, but he still refused to honor it and handed us forms with the price he wanted. We decided to book through hotel.com instead and paid $40. Then the receptionist refused to accept that booking because we’d used a third party rather than booking directly with him. It seemed like he wanted to scam us. Since we’d paid online and had a confirmation number, he eventually had to accept it. Afterward he asked why I hadn’t booked directly with him, even though he’d rejected my reservation despite the WhatsApp proof.
