Jodanga Backpackers Hostel

The showers were nice and regularly cleaned, and the kitchen space was good. Breakfast was adequate too, with bread, jams, fruit and juice, plus a fresh egg if you asked. Beds were pretty comfortable, and each one had its own plug, which was great. Still, the hostel felt average for the price and didn’t have much of a personal vibe. The atmosphere seemed segregated, and there wasn’t anything special about the place. When you arrive, you’re handed rules to read and a waiver to sign, which felt a bit like prison. You also have to put your own bed sheets on. It’s no big deal, but that clearly isn’t included in the room price.

The beds were a highlight, with their own light, outlet, curtain, and little locker underneath. There were extra lockers by the shared bathrooms too, which came in handy if you checked out early or arrived before check-in. Breakfast was fantastic, especially the fresh pineapple, and you could ask the cook to add things you brought along. My boyfriend had tomatoes and chorizo with his eggs. Staff were so friendly and could arrange airport taxis or help with problems. There’s a pool, a pool table, good happy hour deals at the bar, and a book exchange I really appreciated. The kitchen was decent, though it could use a new peeler. Easily the best hostel in Bolivia for us. Would recommend it to anyone!

A good fit for foreign travelers and backpackers who like a bit more comfort. In the city's heat, having a pool is especially nice, and they put on fun things like barbecues and happy hours.

The breakfast is a real strength: two eggs, then unlimited fruit, toast, butter, jam, dulce de leche, juice, and coffee. The kitchen is spacious and has enough equipment, and the hostel was spotless. It costs a lot by Bolivian standards, though decent hostel choices in Santa Cruz seem limited. WiFi swung between very good and very bad. Showers were hot apart from the electric ones. Some private rooms are in a separate building across the street, so they're a little quieter. Rooms have fans or air conditioning and lockers for valuables. HI members get 10% off unless a promotion is on.
