Swissôtel Santa Cruz De La Sierra

The rooms are spacious, but that's the only good thing. The rest isn't worth what you pay. Breakfast is very limited, and the small breakfast area gets too crowded, with too few tables. We were the only people in the restaurant at dinner, yet waited about 35 minutes for a burger. It was the worst I've had, with burned meat and an old, stale bun. The pool is too small for everyone, with only 2 sunloungers, and the staff weren't helpful at all.

The rooms have a good view and are roomy enough, with comfortable beds and pillows and a nice shower. There are plenty of staff, and reception keeps track of the passport photo needed for the day-of-entry stamp. The beverage area is good too. It’s not in the best area, and finding a cap can be difficult, but reception can arrange one if you ask. It’s good Swissotel, though not the best.

The rooms are new, and so is the hotel, but it’s in a poor part of the city. At breakfast they don’t provide still water. You can pour it from the bathroom tap or buy 150 ml for 3 USD.

Maria at the front desk really came through for us. When we returned our rental car, the agent tried to charge us 20% extra for cleaning, claiming it was in the contract even though no one had mentioned it. Maria read through the Spanish contract, spoke with him, and showed that he was trying to fleece us. She handled the whole thing while we went back to our room, and stayed kind to both us and the agent throughout. That was part of a short 1 day 2 night stay at Swissotel Santa Cruz. We arrived at 4:30 in the morning, and the front desk helped arrange a 4x4 rental at a much better rate than the online airport rates. It was ready by 8:30 AM. The room was great, the view was awesome, and breakfast was pretty good. I’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
