They tried to make me pay in USD, but I’m not from the US and don’t walk around with dollars. This is Bolivia, where the currency is Bolivianos. When they finally gave me a rate in Bolivianos, it was much higher than it should’ve been. It’s a big scam.

The location is good, close to the plaza and easy to walk everywhere. But my room really needed updating and maintenance, and the room, service, and other things let me down. I got no towel or toilet paper, and during my six-day stay nobody cleaned the room. The breakfast was horrible. Sometimes the front gate was locked and I couldn’t get in or out until someone came. I understand locking it at night for security, but not in the middle of the day. It’s not the worst hotel, but it could be much better, and there are definitely better options. I can’t recommend it.

The room was dusty and damp, and the kitchenware was dirty. The staff weren’t nice at all, and said no to every question. I was charged 50Bob for an extra hour because I was late checking out.

The building is beautiful, and you can walk to the city centre. But the wifi is weak, and both the rooms and kitchen were dirty. The shared bathroom is an open room with no door or windows, so it’s freezing in there and there’s no privacy.

We booked a double room through Hostelworld for 140bob, but when the hostel contacted us, they quoted the price in USD and said payment had to be in dollars or by credit card. They only take USD! It seems obvious they do this so guests can’t pay at the blue rate. They don’t mention this online, so it just comes across as a scam. There are much better hostels in the same price range. DO NOT BOOK HERE.
