Hotel Vila Rica

Great.

I was in Alfenas for two days on a work trip, and it was a horrible stay. The bathroom smelled foul, and twice, in the middle of the night, I woke up to a strong sewer smell in the room and couldn't get back to sleep. After the first night, I left for work and was told they'd move me to another room. They didn't. Breakfast was poor, with few options. Being in Minas and not having pão de sal or pão de queijo at breakfast is shameful. When I complained at reception, I got no solution. Horrible place. I'm not coming back. Minus 10.

The breakfast was pretty limited, and my room faced the street, so it was really noisy.

This was our fifth stay here, always for a week at a time on work trips, so we clearly like the service. It's a great place for the price, with friendly staff. The hot water heater works, the shower has strong water pressure, the air conditioning cools well, and there's a minibar. The mattresses and pillows are comfortable, and breakfast is tasty with a good range of options. It isn't set up for a family vacation, but for business stays, it's perfect. Highly recommend.
