Porto Fazenda Hotel

Fantastic.

It's a pretty place, and I imagine it's even prettier when the reservoir is full. Our standard chalet was simple and rustic, but clean and smelled nice. It had a minibar and a fan. I wished there were somewhere to hang wet swim clothes. Since it's a farm-style house, you can hear birds on the roof at night, haha. The weather was cool when we went, but in hot weather remember it's countryside, so bring insect repellent! We went on a Monday when it was nearly empty, but there was still someone from the recreation team around, and we could wander freely. There are lots of little animals, and it's a nice place to walk and swim. There's a game room where you can buy tokens for the arcade machines. On weekends, with more guests, there are many more activities and entertainment for the whole family. Early in the week there’s less. The place is generally clean. I saw reviews mentioning animal poop, but that's kind of unavoidable when the animals roam around. I didn't see anything outrageous. The food is home-style, tasty, and has plenty of variety. Drinks cost extra, and they aren't cheap. Breakfast is the exception, with milk, coffee, detox juice, yogurt, and so on. Bring bottled water for the chalet, since there aren't any water dispensers, and the only water in mine was from the bathroom sink. We really enjoyed the trip and recommend it. We hope to come back.

The hotel is decent, but this isn't the first time I've had an unpleasant experience here. We booked the best suite, the one with the hot tub. On the previous visit, there was no hot water. This time, after asking twice for a full check that the apartment was working properly, we arrived late at night ready for a soak, only to find the tub leaking. Management didn't move us to another apartment until the next day, and only after my wife asked several times. We paid for the most expensive option and got nothing but a sheet of paper with an apology. No one from management came to speak with us, and I think they could have done more to make up for it. We paid for the best and got the basics.

A great place for a weekend with the family, with a very competent and attentive team.
