The staff at reception were very courteous, and I had a great stay with my small pet. There are chalets that allow pets, and the atmosphere is pleasant. The beach is beautiful, and the Bistrô restaurant is wonderful. Breakfast came with fresh fruit and other treats, but you really should try the tapioca Caravelas. The chalet was very comfortable, with good-quality beds and bath and bed linens, plus a hot shower. If you like to cook, the ground-floor kitchen is very well equipped. There are also a few nearby services that are really helpful.

We picked Moitas beach because we wanted somewhere peaceful to enjoy the beach and rest. That became impossible when a company gathering for one of the owner’s businesses took over the pousada on our first day. The pool was packed, guests were incredibly loud, and we woke to people cutting huge pieces of meat. There was meat displayed right beside our room, too. We’d booked for two days, and I think the least they could do for an event like that is close the pousada for the day. If that can’t be done, guests should at least be told ahead of time that the place will be shared with a party. Breakfast was another letdown. I’ve stayed at much simpler pousadas that served a fuller breakfast with more variety.

The water tank lid was loose, blew off in the wind and struck my face while I was in the pool. I bled a lot and was lucky it wasn’t worse. My face is swollen and I’m still hurt. The team took care of me, brought a nurse and gave me first aid supplies. I understand the wind played a part, but it also ruined my weekend, and I felt the owner could have shown a little more consideration. He apologized, but I couldn’t go in the sun or use the pool, and I didn’t go out either. I spent the whole weekend at the pousada without enjoying any of it. I’d already paid and wasn’t offered any money back or another weekend to help make up for the trauma. I can’t really comment on the facilities otherwise, except that the water tank had no protection. I hope they’ve fixed it so this doesn’t happen to anyone else. I’ve included a photo of my face and of where the lid flew before hitting me.

The place is really pleasant and comfortable, and the staff are polite and well prepared to welcome guests. I’d love to come back, and I definitely recommend it!
