Hostel dos Reis

Sometimes people miss the simple things that draw us in and wrap us in care and comfort, but the soul still feels them.

The location was good, right in the center, but quite a few things fell short. The surroundings felt only average and needed a more thorough, careful clean, especially with animal waste around. The air conditioner was also very dirty. The room itself was average, and the cleaning needed more attention. There were no locks on the doors, so other people could get in, which made theft seem possible. The other guests were also only average, and there didn’t seem to be much care for them; things felt rather neglected. There is a garage, but the owners kept their own car there and left the guests’ cars on the street. That felt very inconsiderate, especially for a fairly high price given what’s offered. The shared area was okay, though it also needed cleaning and care. Service was average. There were some particular problems with drunk people or couples, which made the atmosphere feel murky. It was also disrespectful when people took food from other guests’ things in the refrigerator.

The breakfast was delicious, and the owners, Julio and Gabi, were wonderful hosts with lots of tips for things to do in the area.

The rooms were nicely decorated and the service was good. It’s a quiet place for an overnight stay, with a good location about 10 minutes from the center.
