Inn House Angra dos Reis - Soft Opening

Cláudia and Márcia were kind and tried to make up for the disorganization, and I appreciate Lis moving us to a better room. But the inn disappointed me badly. I stayed during Carnival and won’t return. Its high Booking score led us to expect a good stay, but it didn’t deliver even half what other inns do, and we felt misled. Breakfast was very basic, despite being described as spectacular. The French rolls arrived late every day, and on our last morning we had to eat the bread we’d bought at the market. I posted a photo as proof. At most, the staff offered a toasted ham and cheese sandwich made with stale bread, pizza bread, and scrambled eggs to try to please us. There was little fruit or bread variety, the same cake every day, and the biscuits were old, moldy, and hard. The breakfast table was messy and poorly arranged, as the photo shows. The facilities are in urgent need of repair and feel very run-down. The air conditioning barely worked and the Wi-Fi didn’t work. The bath towels were old, and the pool is tiny. There’s no accessibility for disabled or elderly people, who have to climb several steps to reach the rooms.

The view is beautiful, and Lis and Claudia deserve a mention for being so kind, attentive, and pleasant. Still, the stay didn’t match the high rating I saw on a booking app. The room had no ceiling lining. When it was windy and rained hard overnight, a lot of dirt blew into the room, and the rain brought a very strong, unpleasant mold smell. Behind the inn, debris has collected and water can gather there. The place needs urgent repairs and more attention to cleanliness. Breakfast was extremely basic, with very little variety. There’s also a staircase right at the entrance, which could make access difficult for people with limited mobility.

Liz was wonderful, and we felt right at home. The inn looks just like the photos, with a spectacular view. Everything was great. I’ve already booked another stay and highly recommend it.
