Hotel Mão de Fatima

The pool was fine, and my daughters used it every day. Breakfast was great too, though you have to get up early to enjoy everything on offer. We stayed four days, my husband, our three daughters, and me. At check-in, the room we were given didn’t match what the website had shown. Thankfully, the staff at reception were very kind and polite, and quickly moved us to a larger room with a balcony, a fan, and air conditioning. There’s still a lot to improve with cleaning. The balcony was dirty, the bathroom had mold and no shower enclosure, and the bedroom floor was dusty. We even had to use the bathroom mat to wipe the floor. We liked our stay, but I’m leaving this here as a suggestion to improve the cleanliness.

We only booked one night, and it was well worth it. Breakfast had lots of choices and was delicious, and the hotel felt family-friendly. It’s about an 8-minute drive or a 22-minute walk from the Aparecida basilica. There’s a pharmacy nearby and a market across the street. Parking next door costs extra, around $50.00. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a hot shower, a minibar, and towels available. We visited in winter, so didn’t use the pool. It’ll need maintenance before summer. We’d recommend the place and would definitely come back.

I booked the day before, paid half, and was supposed to pay the rest when I arrived. Before heading there, I contacted the hotel to confirm, but they said there was no reservation under my name. I sent proof of both the booking and payment. They said they’d forward it to finance and refund me, but I still haven’t received anything. When I message them, they keep putting me off. They don’t answer the phone either, so I can only reach them on WhatsApp. Be very careful before booking here. I was left out of pocket.

I stayed for two days and honestly came away disappointed. The room had a TV but no remote, and no table for guests who might want to eat in their room. Its window faced an access area next to the dining room, while the bathroom window looked onto houses, so I had to keep both windows shut the whole time. Cleaning was poor, and there was even a dead cockroach. Breakfast could be good, but it felt neglected. There were plenty of options and some were quite good, yet the food was covered with an unbelievable number of bees. Imagine being allergic to bees in that situation. It just isn’t workable. Management urgently needs to address this and the room cleaning.
