Monte Carmelo Hotel

A terrible stay. Our room, 501, had no air conditioning, and the fan did nothing to cool it down. The bathroom got wetter outside the shower than inside it. The towels were soaked, and we had to buy towels to use. We were on a tour, and other people in our group said their rooms didn’t even have a fan, air conditioning, or minibar. We were there this past weekend, on Saturday 18/11, when the heat was unbearable.

I went with a large group from 25 to 27/01/2024, and the staff looked after us well. Débora is especially warm and friendly. The room and bedding were very clean, but the towels are extremely worn and urgently need replacing.

The one real plus is the location, close to downtown, the old basilica, the walkway of faith, and the bus station. The hotel itself fell short of expectations. Service was awful, the mattresses were old, and the sheets were dirty. It looked like the room had been cleaned with the balcony door left open, letting dust and dirt inside. There was nobody at reception to tell us where meals were served. Breakfast was weak: French rolls, cornmeal cake, cornstarch biscuits, and powdered juice. The dining room was small. Lunch was served from 11:00 to 13:00, but when I arrived at 11:40 there was no main dish left. I had to wait, and when the food came, the beef was undercooked. The price was completely out of proportion to what we got. I’d be unlikely to stay again and wouldn’t recommend it. If you need a hotel in APARECIDA, research carefully before booking. Many hotels in town charge per person rather than per room, whether it’s a single or double.

The hotel was very clean, and all the staff were excellent. Ana Paula and Bete from the kitchen were the loveliest people we met there, and Ana Paula served us with incredible care. I highly recommend the hotel.
