Pousada Itaguaçu

The rooms smelled of mildew and looked shabby, and the place doesn't match the photos on the site. It's far from the basilica, so you need a car to get around; walking there isn't really an option. They ask for a deposit but don't tell you it won't be returned if you cancel or change your plans. Be careful, this feels like a scam. I wouldn't recommend staying here under any circumstances.

The rooms were very clean, and all the staff were warm and cheerful. Breakfast had plenty of choice, and everything was fresh and tasty. The inn is simple, and it's close to the Santuário if you're driving, though a bit of a walk on foot. They also offer à la carte dinner, with generous portions of freshly made food that tastes home-cooked.

The service makes you feel right at home, and the rooms are wonderful. Excellent hospitality. If you're going to aparecida, stay here, you won't regret it.

I paid 300 reais for one night, then had an unexpected car problem, and they wouldn't refund even a cent. On top of that, I was treated disrespectfully and insulted. I was told it was my problem and that I'd agreed to the policy myself. The service was awful. I'm now starting legal proceedings, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Just another headache…
