Hotel Fazenda Salto Grande

Mr. Roberto served us most evenings, and he was wonderful, cordial, and fun to talk with. I enjoyed hearing about the property's history. The food was a highlight too: many dishes tasted fresh and homemade, with lots of good lunch and dinner options. Breakfast was just okay, but the coffee was amazing, which makes sense given that the property used to produce coffee. I didn't care much for the pizza night, though the other food was delicious. They also have very good local craft beer. There was artisanal cachaca, but I didn't try it. We spent a week here while visiting family in Araraquara, and it was a lovely way to connect with nature. The grounds were peaceful, with well-kept landscaping, a rustic farm feel, lots of nature, and farm animals. There's a huge pool with a water slide and other amenities, a fishing pond, and plenty of outdoor activities. Horseback riding in the nearby sugar cane fields is definitely recommended. The kids loved the pool and brinquedoteca, and the monitors were very nice and seemed to genuinely enjoy their work. We had fun exploring the grounds and looking at the fruit trees. The rooms were nice, with high ceilings and a cool patio. A smart TV might be nice, but it felt better to be outside doing things anyway. Just keep track of spending, since drinks and ice creams are all charged separately. You could end up with a hefty bill for extras. An app to follow your spending would be useful, if there isn't one already. Water fountains in a few places for guests to refill would also be appreciated. The stay was totally worth the price.
