Hotel Pousada Chalé do Coqueiral

Great!

Really good place, with friendly service and good value for money.

The bathroom was clean and bright, and breakfast was basic but perfectly fine. The place itself is pleasant and family-friendly, though a few things really brought down the stay. When we arrived at our scheduled time, there wasn't a room ready. The room had peeling paint, the TV didn't work, and the bedding was just one thin sheet. The attendant who helped me after midnight was wonderful and brought me more bedding. I wish I'd asked his name so I could give him the credit he deserves. The first staff member we dealt with wasn't very helpful and came across as rude. The playground I took my two daughters to, ages 1 and 4, had rusty equipment. There was no sign saying not to enter, only a note attached to the chain saying not to touch it, which was put up later. When I raised this, the attendant insisted there was a sign and told me to read it. I explained that there hadn't been one, and that the existing note only said not to touch the equipment. Those two issues were the main reasons for my low rating. The cleaner deserves four stars, though, since there seems to be only one person cleaning the whole place. Congratulations to the overnight employee, who was an EXCELLENT person.

The property has a lot of potential, but the shared areas are in poor condition. There seems to be little upkeep or attention to cleanliness: the pool was filthy, and guests have to fetch and clean a chair before using it. The service is lacking, and breakfast had very few choices, with some food that seemed old. It's a shame, because the place has a great setup and isn't cheap. The people responsible need to manage it with more care and common sense.
