Hotel Carlton Imbiara Express

It's an old, very simple hotel, but well located, with a spacious parking lot and courteous, helpful staff. They need to pay more attention to cleaning, though. The bathroom trash hadn't been collected, and the minibar was so moldy it felt unsanitary.

Since Carlton Hoteis took over the lease, service has gotten noticeably worse, while the rate has climbed a lot for a hotel of this size. The receptionist said the price fluctuates with demand, so they charge more when demand is high. Breakfast had very few choices and took too long to replenish. Reception service was awful, and the single beds were small and very uncomfortable. I do not recommend this hotel. Simply terrible.

For a work trip, it did what I needed: a quiet, well located place with a large parking lot where I could sleep and head out in the morning. The experience matched my expectations for a nightly rate below other hotels. The room was small, with a fan, outlets, Wi-Fi, and a little desk for work. Staff were polite. It's fine for one or more nights on a business trip, but not a vacation stay, and you shouldn't expect a fancy room at this price. Breakfast could be better. The pão de queijo wasn't fresh, which is the least you'd expect in Minas, especially as a visitor. There was fruit, though, and enough to make a good toasted sandwich.

The worst stay of my life! In little room no. 19, right under the kitchen, they start dragging things and banging pots at exactly 4 in the morning. I've never seen reception staff so unfriendly. Doors slamming and people shouting in the corridors echo around and make the place feel like a slave quarters. My God, how can they call this a hotel?
