Getting to reception means climbing a lot of steps, and there’s no elevator, so handling big bags is really difficult. The person who greeted me didn’t say “welcome,” and didn’t speak English, so that’s not exactly a five-star arrival. The pool is clean but small, about 8-10m by 4m, and looks quite different from the website photo. Wi-Fi was barely usable, so after the first night we changed rooms hoping for a better signal. The air conditioning didn’t work well and was noisy. There was no kettle in the room or hotel; they gave us jugs of warm water for tea. We also couldn’t do laundry because the woman who handled it was on holiday. There were good points too. The location is good, staff were friendly and very helpful, and the room was cleaned really well. The shower was great, and breakfast was better than average, though the cold fruit drinks were undrinkable and there wasn’t much hot food. You can take an Uber to the centre, or a water taxi if your back is strong enough! I don’t think I’ll return.

We felt looked after from the moment we arrived. The hotel is comfortable, the staff are very friendly, and it’s close enough to João Fernandes that we could walk there and back easily. Edison was attentive throughout our honeymoon and kept making sure everything was just right. His warmth and kindness made us feel at home and made the stay special. He also made the best caipirinhas, coconut smoothies, and piña coladas I’ve ever had. The breakfast was varied and filling, and the hotel meals weren’t expensive. Our room was well kept and always spotless, with a fresh, pleasant smell. The pool temperature was just right, perfect for relaxing. My husband and I are leaving with wonderful memories and a lot of gratitude. We’d recommend the place and hope to return soon. Thank you for everything.

We were able to see everything on foot, which made this a good deal for me. João Fernandes Beach is two minutes away, the João Fernandes lookout is a five-minute walk up quite a climb, Praia dos Ossos is 20 minutes away, and Rua das Pedras is 30 minutes away. Parking near Rua das Pedras costs 80 reais for six hours, and most nearby inns don’t have parking. We booked the day before in high season, so we didn’t have much choice. Our quadruple room had a balcony, hammock, and a lovely view, though it wasn’t the best one at the pousada. I liked that it had the basics I wanted: breakfast, parking, air conditioning, a pool, and access to Rua das Pedras and the beaches. The inn’s hillside construction is really cute, too. Everyone’s priorities are different, of course. The welcome was very good. They helped with our bags and left sunscreen as a little gift in the room. The bathroom had a hair dryer, and everything was clean and smelled nice. They do serve meals, but we didn’t try them. There are lots of stairs, and I didn’t see a games room. Since we spent so much time out exploring, the pousada worked well for resting.
