Che Lagarto Hostel Búzios

Che Lagarto confirmed my booking months in advance, and I bought my flight around those dates. Weeks later they cancelled, citing “technical issues beyond their ability to resolve.” By then, prices at their own hostels and other places in Rio had doubled, so I couldn’t find a dorm for less than €100 a night. I contacted them politely, though I was upset, and they wouldn’t help at all. They essentially told me tough luck, then ignored and blocked me. I’d avoid doing business with this chain.

The facilities are okay for the price, and the hostel itself is great. But the service from one blonde Argentinian woman at reception was among the worst I’ve experienced. If you see her there, honestly, don’t bother and just leave. I hope they improve this.

The place was clean and well looked after, and the staff were warm and friendly. They organize things like group dinners and beach outings, which made the stay even more enjoyable. I’d happily recommend Che Lagarto Buzios and will come back. Obrigada!!

The facilities feel dated, the Wi-Fi doesn’t work, and there’s no hot water. Music plays so loudly all day that sleeping is difficult. The door doesn’t close, so mosquitoes get in, and you have to pay for a blanket. The check-in policy is weird too. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it.
